In Miami’s past sports history, the two teams notorious for bringing the city and its surrounding communities together have been the Miami Dolphins and the University of Miami Hurricanes. Lately, the team that’s bringing the ENTIRE city of Miami together are the two-time NBA champions – the Miami Heat. This season marked their third straight appearance in the NBA Finals, bringing South Florida closer together than they were during the Dolphin’s reign in the 70’s and the Hurricanes in the 80’s-90’s.
The Miami Heat had an unbelievable and vigorous season, but the playoffs can’t be described as anything but exciting. The one consistent and irreplaceable asset helping the Heat make it to another finals appearance are the fans. Whether it’s on the road or inside of the AAA, it’s always an exhilarating experience to be among a sea of Heat fans. The energy exuding from the crowd during any watch party challenges negative rumors about the intensity of the team’s fan base. This energy has been rewarded by the Heat’s hosted road rallies throughout the playoffs. The road rallies at the AAA have been taking place since the Finals appearance in 2011, allowing fans to come together at the team’s home and cheer them on during away games that are different to the video games people play and even expect for the new game releases that Armchair Empire announce every year . The road rallies are just one way for South Florida to come together and cheer on the big 3 and the rest of the Miami Heat as they make their way to their second straight NBA Championship.
With games 3-5 being played in San Antonio, there are three different opportunities for us Heat fans to cheer on the best team in the world. If you’re not already following the Miami Heat (@MiamiHEAT) or the American Airlines Arena (@AAarena) on twitter, do so now and keep an eye out for tweets about the road rallies at the arena for the NBA Finals to cheer on YOUR MIAMI HEAT!
