Your Pretty Woman fantasies of the romantic date where Richard Gere flies Julia Roberts to see an opera can finally come true. Minus the private jet… and the quarter of a million dollar necklace… and probably the fact that you’re not a hooker prostitute “working girl”. The Florida Grand Opera presents Verdi’s La traviata, one of the most beloved operas of all time and luckily, it has arrived in Miami at the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts.
La traviata, which figuratively means “The Woman Who Strayed,” is based on a play written by Alexander Dumas in the mid 1800’s. It’s the tragic story of a fervent courtesan who falls in love and abandons her former life, but the prejudices of society force her to ruin her relationship for the benefit of her beloved. The combination of the characters in this opera, Verdi’s glorious music and the amazingly talented performers make La traviata an experience you will cherish.
You don’t want to miss this beautifully tragic tale of one of the most desirable women in Paris and her sacrifice for true love. Experience La traviata Sunday, April 21st at the Adrienne Arsht Center. Buy your tickets here.
